Discovery is a forward-looking vehicle with a rich heritage. It builds on over fifty years of Land Rover expertise as the world's only manufacturer of exclusively 4x4 vehicles, demonstrating how experience and innovation lead to unbeatable designs. In its latest form - All New Discovery 3 - it stands ready to redefine its sector all over again.

Four incarnations of a classic vehicle

The original Discovery - launched in 1989 - represented a bold departure for Land Rover. The all-new shape included many distinctive design features such as an upright stance, low shoulder line, stepped roof and Alpine roof lights to the rear of the vehicle. And it didn't stop with design. Discovery launched with advanced technologies such as permanent 4x4 and the legendary Hill Descent Control included as standard. Although a completely new vehicle, it was clearly a Land Rover.

Series II and onwards

With constant development, Series II appeared in 1998. While still retaining the iconic silhouette of a Discovery, every body panel except the rear tailgate was new. In 1999, Discovery was named "Sports Utility of the Year" by Automobile magazine - spearheading Land Rover's success in the US. In 2003, a refined and supremely capable New 2003 Discovery was introduced, featuring the new Land Rover family face.

All New Discovery 3

2004 marks a high point in Discovery's long heritage with the launch of All New Discovery 3. Bold, pure and full of conviction, this all new model will redefine the luxury SUV category once again. Highly functional design and smart, enabling technology combine in what is arguably the best all-terrain seven-seater the world has seen.
